Jakob’s practice focuses on construction litigation, including construction lien claims, delay claims, payment disputes, and construction defect litigation.
Prior to joining our firm, Jakob worked in construction litigation for several years at other firms in Portland. He worked on delay claims, lien claims, and payment disputes for his construction clients. He also had several construction defect cases representing general contractors on residential condominium projects.
Jakob successfully defended a general contractor against a condominium association seeking over $6 million in damages for construction defects in its building. He was able to help settle the claim for less than $500,000 for his client. He also represented the same contractor in another lawsuit against a condominium association seeking $800,000 in damages for alleged construction defects. He was able to settle that claim to a favorable outcome for the client.
Jakob successfully settled a claim against another general contractor brought by a condominium association. The plaintiff sought $10 million in damages for water intrusion and other construction defects. Jakob was able to settle the claim for less than one-tenth of the initial damage against the client.
